How to copy a Facebook video link

It's the only tricky part, because Facebook tucks the link away behind Share.

Tap Share under the video, then Copy link. Watching a reel? Share is the arrow on the right. Then paste it into the box at the top and press Download.

Friends-only posts, private videos, stories and anything shared inside a group stay on Facebook. We won't ask for your login to get round that, and nobody else should either. Want a copy? Ask the person who posted it. They still have the original on their phone.

Where do saved Facebook videos go?

Nowhere near your phone.

Facebook's Save button adds a bookmark to your Saved list, inside Facebook. The video itself stays on Facebook's servers, so if the post is deleted or the page takes it down, the bookmark leads to an empty space.

Live videos go further. Since February 2025, Facebook removes new live broadcasts after 30 days. If there's a public stream you'd like to keep, a school recital or the speeches at a club dinner, download the replay while it's still up. Replays longer than an hour are too long for us to save, though, so a full Sunday service or a whole match usually won't fit.

How to save a Facebook video to your phone

Copy the link, paste it at the top of this page and press Download. Then:

iPhone: Safari saves the MP4 to Files, in Downloads. Open it, tap Share, then Save Video, and it's on your camera roll.
Android: It lands in Downloads, and most gallery apps pick it up straight away.
Computer: It's an MP4 in your Downloads folder, ready for any video player.

From there it's just a video. Send it to the family WhatsApp group, email it to an aunt, or put it on a USB stick for the TV.
