9vids is free, and it saves public videos, clips and audio from TikTok, YouTube and seven other platforms. You paste a post's link into the box, and the file comes down to your phone or computer without you installing anything or making an account.
What is 9vids?
The 9 is a head count
Count the platforms and you've got the name. TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, SoundCloud, Dailymotion and VK make nine, and "vids" is the part you walk away with, the video or clip or track saved as a file of your own. It's an online video downloader for public posts on those nine sites.
Most people turn up wanting one particular thing, a recipe or a minute of a cousin's wedding or a talk they keep promising themselves they'll watch on Sunday, and they'd rather not spend the evening working out how each app does it. So the box takes a link from any of the nine, figures out which platform it came from and hands back the file. You don't pick the platform first, and you don't need a separate trick for Instagram and another for VK.

Nobody needs nine bookmarks for one job
A tutorial on YouTube, a TikTok your sister sent at midnight, some pasta thing going past on Instagram, a relative's video on Facebook, a track on SoundCloud while you work. For plenty of people that's an ordinary week, and the one video they end up wanting to keep could be sitting on any of those.
One-site downloaders only get you a slice of that. With 9vids you copy the post's link, paste it into the box and press Download, and it goes the same way every time, whether the link came from VK or from YouTube.

There's a page for each of them, listing what saves from it and what won't, and every row below opens one.
- YouTube The king. If a video exists, there's a fair chance it's on YouTube somewhere, a university lecture or a man fixing his washing machine in real time. Hence the crown. What you can save: videos, shorts, music
- TikTok Where trends start. Whatever sound is stuck in your head this month probably started here. It does photo slideshows as well as videos. What you can save: videos, slideshows, sounds
- Instagram The everyday feed. Reels mostly, with photo posts and carousels in between, and a surprising share of the recipes people save. What you can save: reels, posts, carousels
- Facebook The family album. The grandparents are on it, so the school play ends up on it. What you can save: videos, reels
- X The live wire. The site that used to be Twitter. When something happens, the clip usually lands here first, with a few thousand people arguing underneath it. What you can save: videos, gifs
- Snapchat The quick one. Spotlight videos and public stories, made to be watched in the moment. Keeping one is your call. What you can save: spotlight, public stories
- SoundCloud The music room. Independent artists put their demos here before anyone's heard of them. It's full of DJ mixes and podcasts as well. What you can save: tracks
- Dailymotion The long runner. One of the older video sites still going, heavy on news, sport and entertainment clips. What you can save: videos
- VK The all-in-one. A whole social network with messages and communities, and its own video and clips sections tucked in beside them. What you can save: videos, clips
These are other people's platforms. 9vids has no tie to any of them and no endorsement from them, and their names are listed so you know which links the box will take.

Instagram or TikTok, mostly
The dish was in a reel somewhere, and you'd rather not go digging back through the app with flour all over your hands. Once it's saved, the video plays straight off your phone, so the kitchen's patchy signal stops being your problem.

Usually Facebook
It went up as a public video, but half the family isn't on Facebook, and a link only gets you a row of question marks back. Send them the video file itself and everyone can press play.
A lecture to watch on the plane
YouTube, nearly always
Grab it at the gate and watch it with no Wi-Fi at all. It has to be an hour or less, though, because anything longer gets refused.

Any of the nine
Leaving a platform for good? You'll probably want copies of the videos you posted there first. If they're public, paste the links one at a time and keep each file, but with the daily limit a big back catalogue is going to take a few days.

No app, APK or sign-up needed
A browser tab is plenty
It works on an iPhone, an Android phone or a PC without you installing an app, downloading an APK or adding an extension, and there's no account to make. You never sign in, so nobody here asks for your TikTok or Instagram login, or any other, and your accounts carry on exactly as they were.
It only fetches public posts, meaning ones anybody could watch without following the account or logging in. Private, friends-only and login-only posts get refused, and that's on purpose.
There aren't any pop-up windows to close, either, and no redirect bouncing you off to some other site before the file turns up.
We don't keep the videos, either. Each file passes through our server on its way to you, and no copy of it stays behind; the DMCA page has a little drawing of the route. What the download limits do need is listed, with how long each piece lasts, in the privacy policy.
Is 9vids free?
Free, up to ten a day
Yes. It's free and open to the public, and there's nothing to pay or subscribe to.
Nobody gets to hog it, so each visitor is capped at 5 downloads in any rolling hour and 10 in any rolling day. Links that fail don't count. If you paste the same link again within 30 minutes, that doesn't count either, which is handy when the train goes into a tunnel halfway through a download and you have to start over.

It came out of being fed up. Whenever I wanted to keep a video I'd go hunting for a site that handled that particular platform, one for TikTok, another for Instagram, something else again when it was on Facebook, and most of them threw pop-ups and redirects at me before they'd hand over a file. I wanted one clean address that worked for the nine platforms people use every day, and in the end I built it myself.
